What can i do to open my C D E F G drive partitions open with double click?

When i double click on any of my hard drive partition, instead of opening the respective window, a Open With dialogue box window appears with some programs listed in it to choose the program to open the selected drive. i re-installed the windo





Someone told me that "In all likelihoods, this is a remnant of an old virus infestation. Turn on showing hidden files (Tools -%26gt; Options -%26gt; Show hidden files and folders). In the root of each partition, there will be a file named autorun.inf, delete that.


The autorun.inf file is used to automatically run a program whenever the partition is mounted, overriding the default action. Virii use that to launch themselves automatically. Now that the virus is cleaned, Windows does not know what to launch, so its presenting you with the dialog box to make your choice. Remove the file, and Windows will revert to the default behavior. BUT I COULDN"T B ABLE TO FIND THE FILE AUTORUN.INF is there any orther solution available or help me to find that fil

Choose open with Windows Explorer and check the box that says always open with this program.


That should enable you to open them by double clicking in the future.
Reply:i have a similar problem in my laptop and "always open with" checkbox is inactive.i just cant select it!!!! so your answer is not good enough for me. Report It
