Cant open C Drive?

Originally when I tried to open C drive by double clicking on it in my computer, I got a message saying that I didnt have permission to access that file. I then ran the system file checker application and restored the system files. Following this I ran a virus scan which detected and deleted a number of worms (when before running the sfc nothing had been found by the virus scanner).

So now that I am virus free and my system files are restored, I STILL cant open C Drive by double clicking on it. Instead of getting a message saying I dont have permission, I am prompted to select a program to open that file with. It will open when I manually select windows explorer, but it will not let me set explorer as the default. So it seems that if I want to open C Drive I will have to manually select a program each time. Is there a way to fix this? Can anyone tell me what is wrong?

If you can, reformat the computer... You loose all your data, but your drive should be found, since this is a Windows error, and not really hardware related.
Reply:Finally I'm able to solve this problem. The problem is caused by a virus/trojan called something like qq. It puts an "autorun.inf" onto my C and D drive's root directory. Since it is hidden, I'm not aware. Also it changed the registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Wi... to a different type other then "dword". So I found that I can't set to see hidden files.

Now I changed the registry, set to see the hidden file, delete the autorun.inf on both drives, followed by a final reboot, the problem solved.

My Norton Internet Security seems can't fully clean up the virus.
Reply:Do you have a third party firewall installed? If so I suggest you boot in Safe Mode by continually pressing F8 during the boot sequence. When in Safe Mode go to Start %26gt; Control Panel %26gt; Add/Remove programs and uninstall your third party firewall. Now try re-booting as normal. If that works it means that your firewall became corrupt - you should now be able to re-install. Good luck.
